Public Ceremony is a new solo performance project by composer and multimedia artist Scott Ordway. Working with the tools of electronic music but guided by a deeply human sensibility, the music unfolds patiently, using sound to create an architecture for sustained reflection and inward experience.
Drawing on Ordway’s background as a classical composer, the live electronic performance develops through long-form harmonic structures and careful control of intensity, ranging from the threshold of silence to dense, richly layered accumulations of sound. The result is an immersive listening experience that moves with the slow, deliberate pace of a sonic ritual.
Ordway’s work spans contemporary classical music, electronic composition, installation, and site-specific performance, with concert works presented internationally by leading soloists and ensembles. Public Ceremony marks a parallel strand of his practice, oriented toward live solo performance and a more intimate, physical, and direct relationship with sound.
