Tonight We Tell the Secrets of the World: A Whisper Play (2016) String ensemble, soprano voice, alto saxophone, whispered voices, lighting design 25 minutes
Commissioned by the Penn Museum of Archeology & Anthropology with support from the American Composers Forum
Tonight We Tell the Secrets of the World is a crowd-interactive “whisper play” in which members of the audience form a large choir of whispered voices, guided by a custom lighting array that is aligned with the musical score. The texts are drawn from objects in the collections of the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archeology & Anthropology and span more than 5,000 years of human history in the Middle East and Mediterranean regions.
